The third tier of Brazilian Football

2 regional groups of 10 (first stage)
Teams play each other twice (18 games)
3 points for a win, 1 for a draw
Promotion
Top four of each group qualify for second stage (two groups of four)
Top two teams from these groups are promoted to Serie B
The two group winners play a two legged final to determine overall winner
Relegation
Four teams relegated (bottom two of first stage groups)
Other
League is sorted by 1) points; 2) wins; 3) goal difference; 4) goals scored; 5) head-to-head results (only between 2 teams); 6) fewest red cards; 7) fewest yellow cards; 8) draw.
12 subs named, maximum 3 used
The match squad must have no more than 5 foreign players.
Syria and Haiti treated as non foreign
The match squad cannot have more than zero players on youth contracts.

Board Expectations
As well as playing in the national league of Serie C, each club will also play in their local state league. The quality of the competition can vary wildly from state to state. Some Serie C teams may well be the best in their local state whilst others will be also rans.
Below is a run down of the board expectation in each of the state competitions that involve this years Serie C clubs.
The format is different from state to state with some having a simple league system and other being a cup competition or a combination of the two.

Youth Recruitment
This determines how large a pool of players your team can recruit from. It is the size of your recruitment network. It increases your chances of getting the best young players from your area, nation and beyond.
