The second tier of Mexican Football
16 teams play each other once (15 games) per stage (30 games overall)
Split into 2 stages. Opening and Closing Stages - Both have the same format. Essentially two leagues in one season
A league system to qualify for a knock out tournament
Points For Win - 3
Points For Draw - 1
Extra point awarded for away win (first 7 away matches only)
Stage Rules
Teams placed 3rd-12th in the league qualify for Opening Stage Preliminary knock out Round the winners of which proceed to the Quarter Final stage
Team in 2nd position in the league automatically qualifies for Quarter Final
Top team in the league automatically qualifies for Semi Final
Winner of the final wins the stage
The two stage winners then play each other in a grand final (Guard1anes)
Promotion
No Promotion
Wikipedia suggests promotion may happen after a few seasons (2024/25). Unconfirmed as to whether this happens in FM
Tapatio and Pumas Tabasco are ineligible for promotion as they are feeder clubs, unlike some feeder clubs they are available to be managed
Relegation
No relegation
Extra team will be added in 21/22 to make the league 17 teams
Extra team will be added in 22/23 to make the league 18 teams
Other
There must be at least 3 under-23 Mexican-born players in the starting eleven. (Born after 1/1/1997)
There must be at least 8 Mexican-born players in the playing 11.

It is advisable however to run as many top tier leagues of major nations as you can to keep the continental club competitions competitive
