League Guide & Facts

The second tier of Uruguayan Football
2 phases

Phase 1

12 teams are divided into 2 groups of 6.
Teams play each other once. (5 games)
Winners of each group play each other in a one off final at a neutral venue.
The winner secures at least a play off place (unless they finish the regular season in the relegation zone)

Phase 2 - Main Phase

Points from phase 1 are carried over
All teams play each other twice (a further 22 games)
Top 2 teams are promoted
Next 4 teams qualify for the playoffs
Bottom 2 teams (based on a 2 season points average) go into relegation playoff against 2 lower tier sides,

Other

There must be no more than 3 foreign players in the starting 11 and no more than 6 in the squad
A championship playoff match is played if 1st and 2nd finish on the same points

It is advisable however to run as many top tier leagues of major nations as you can to keep the continental club competitions competitive

Junior Coaching

The quality and quantity of unseen youth coaches that affects the quality of players in your youth intake

Youth Recruitment

This determines how large a pool of players your team can recruit from. It is the size of your recruitment network. It increases your chances of getting the best young players from your area, nation and beyond.

Some clubs of course will have no youth recruitment at all, which means no youth intakes.
